"I think I just fell for my boss's biggest rival..."
All Cam ever wanted to do was work for his favorite author Madeleine Stevens. But when a harsh review of her latest book is published by her rival Serge Faletti, Cam's sense of loyalty sends him marching to Serge to demand a retraction.
"I can't let anybody see who I really am..."
Serge is supposed to be writing the follow-up to his big hit detective novel, but the words aren't coming. And knowing that his rival Madeleine is plotting against him isn't helping. When he meets her assistant, the bookish, cardigan-wearing Cam, he is caught off-guard. How can he be so drawn to someone who should be his enemy? He is so worried about his reputation that he can't admit his attraction, even to himself.
"I can't trust you, but I don't want to spend a minute without you..."
How can you trust your feelings when the man you're with is your worst enemy? Things are getting real between Cam and Serge, but Madeleine's scheming threatens to tear them apart before they have a chance together. Can Cam untangle himself from his boss and let himself be free to love? And can Serge put aside his worries over what the world will think if he is with another man?
Booked Up is a 50,000-word standalone contemporary gay romance, complete with lots of heat and a happily ever after ending.

I purchased this after reading Sweet Deal since one of the characters was introduced in that book. I found it hard to care about any of the characters in the book except Tish. I had to set it aside many times before finally finishing it. The ending was good and it was fun to recognize a character or two from other books that I have read. I like how she sprinkles them in to make a connection but yet you are not missing anything if you haven't read the book that those characters are in. Overall it was okay but was my least favorite of the eight books from her that I have read.Product details

Booked Up edition by Harper Logan Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
What a ride this book took me on, Cam and Serge’s journey is anything but a smooth one but it’s so worth it. I loved the banter between these two men, and how they tried to play it so cool despite how overwhelmed they both were. I couldn’t help but feel for Cam, who was so conflicted about what he thought he wanted from his life and what his instincts were warning him didn’t feel quite right. Serge had his own internal battle to wage, so caught up in his persona that he’d lost sight of what his own personal truths were, and I felt like a little fist pump was in order when he finally worked up the courage to own up to his behaviour and be honest with himself.
I spent some time trying to work up a little empathy for Madeleine, surely there must be something redeeming about her to warrant Cam being so enamoured for so long, but I just couldn’t do it. As aggravating as I found her, I was equally entertained by Serge’s best friend Tish, who became the voice of everything I was thinking as he vented to her.
Please note that I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader’s copy of this book.
I wish I could say I really liked it. It had so much potential but there was just something missing. Cam was such a doormat, letting Madeleine push him around making him feel bad about who he is and question the choices he has made in his life. And he pretty much just let her. She was a spoiled brat who couldn't accept the truth without becoming completely vengeful while comparing Cam to her old assistant, Angela. In comes Serge, the object of Madeleine's vengeance. He read her book for review and just didn't like it and wrote the review accordingly. That should be enough but in Maddy Stevens eyes it was not. So she sends Cam to try to intimidate him. But the two meet and this is where my problems with the book lie. Cam and Serge just started to happen. Yes, they both fought it....kind of. This is where a little angst should have come into play but just didn't quite make it. Both Serge and Cam were pretty wishy-washy. Serge was just mean even though he's the one to initiate the relationship and Cam pretty much let him. The one thing I will say about Cam, when things starts happening between him and Serge he kept his integrity in place by refusing to let her come in the middle of them while being completely honest with her about his and Serge's relationship even though he knew she'd try and use it. He let Serge and Maddy play tug-off-war with him until he had to make a choice. He let both of them treat him horribly and that I had a huge problem with. Then Serge makes half and apology and that's good enough for him to change his whole life. Just too simple.
Basically what the book comes down to for me is how it felt incomplete. It was just lacking substance. It does not deter me from reading more of the author's work.
I agreed to read an advanced copy for an honest review.
The idea of couple a totally opposite pair is totally hilarious and during the reading I was amused several times. 3 I really enjoyed the competetive character the story had. D It gave the story its spice and a bit drama, not too much, not too less. 3
The main character were pleasant, I really liked Sergio’s/Serge’s vulnerability and his insecure. He is a really sensitive person and he captured my heart.
On the other hand I was also lost after meeting Cam. He is also such a sweetheart and it hurt to see how ill Madeleine treated him. >.<
It was sometimes a little bit rushed but I think it was in retrospect really fitting. )
Madeleine, Cam’s employer changed from a noisy person to a hateful creature, a great character developement because the author did a great job in doing this in a realistic way. )
Though the book is a stand alone it was so sweet to have a reappearance of our couple from Bromantic, as well as the mentioning of the change in the neighbourhood and that the mechanic shop changed into a art gallery – the impact of the actions in Driven. 3 ❤

I think harper made the characters a little to bland and non real as they lack the depth he usually portraits in his main characters.
But it's an okay story if a bit to main stream and obvious for my taste.
Little slow at the start but picked up energy as it went along I loved it can't wait to read the next in the series
Ok I absolutely loved this one! I couldn't help but laugh at the snipping between two authors and poor Cam in the middle of it all! And I loved the ending, so absolutely perfect! This one is a must read!!!
Wonderful, wonderful, what a great book! Could not put it down, loved every chapter, every word. Love story to say the least. This says a lot about the Author, love in every book he writes. This a must read, you will not be able to put it down. Many Thanks, Honey Bee🐝📚💙🎶
